Lost Photos

I’m interested in how and why old snapshots and portraits of people end up for sale at flea markets and in antique shops. This project aims to imbue these cast-off photos with warmth by giving them homes in handmade frames. An art and poetry manuscript Photographs from Nanton which I’m currently working on is part of this exploration, and is supported by the Alberta Foundation for the Arts. The film “H. Wright Photographer” (follow the link or see below) is an earlier investigation into these ideas, completed when I was away working on my MA. Of this movie my mom has said “when I saw you bake that photo into that pie I wondered if the stress of grad school hadn’t gotten to you.”
