A History of Button Collecting

“a history of button collecting
of corrugated cardboard living
scalloped edged photographs
in newspaper lined drawers”

A History of Button Collecting delves into the ache of nostalgia and memories of childhood, explored through mementos and objects that accumulate in the corners of drawers, in the backs of closets, and in the corners of one’s heart.

In this chapbook, the words of the poem have been formed out of buttons, and subsequently photographed by Julya Hajnoczky.

Two editions of this chapbook were produced. One mini-edition, created for the August 2010 visual-poetry flywheel reading at Truck Gallery, and one lavish hardcover edition, created by Julya Hajnoczky as part of a photography and bookbinding project at ACAD.
